Course-aware AI tutoring
Understand it, don't just submit it.
Polya reads your actual course — the readings, the slides, the lecture recordings — and works through problems with you the way a good tutor would. Every answer shows exactly where in your course it came from.
Works with your school's Canvas · Governed by your instructor's policy
I won't hand you the answer — but let's get you there. Your recursion tree does the same work at every level1. Add up one level — what do you get?
How it works
Connect a course. Ask anything. Actually learn it.
Connect your course
Sign in with Google and connect your school’s Canvas. Pick a course, and Polya studies what the class actually covers — the readings, slides, pages, and lecture recordings.
Ask anything from the class
Polya answers from your course, not the open internet. Every claim carries a citation that opens the exact page, slide, or lecture moment behind it.
Climb the ladder
Stuck on a problem? Polya starts with a hint, then a step, then a worked example — the full solution when that’s what serves the learning, always within your instructor’s policy.
Why Polya
Three things a chatbot won't do.
Answers with receipts
Every claim carries a citation. Click it and the exact PDF page or lecture moment opens beside the answer — verify it yourself, in one click.
…the total cost is work per level times the number of levels1
Teaches instead of finishing
Ask “solve this” and Polya starts with a hint, then a step, then a worked example — the full solution only when that’s what helps you learn.
Instructor-controlled
A per-course policy — Open, Guided, Practice, or Review — visibly changes how much Polya reveals. Built to be adopted, not banned.
For instructors & universities
Academic help your policies can actually govern.
Polya tutors from the materials you assigned, in the language you teach with, at the assistance level you choose. Students see the policy in every conversation — and every answer shows its sources.
Frequently asked questions
Asked and answered.
What is Polya?
Polya is an AI tutor that works from your actual course. Connect a class and Polya reads the readings, slides, and lecture recordings, then helps the way a good tutor would — hints and steps first, with every answer citing exactly where in the course it came from.
Does Polya work with my school’s Canvas?
Yes. Polya connects to the Canvas account you already use at your school and brings in the materials for the courses you choose. You pick which courses Polya can see, and nothing is ever posted back to Canvas.
Will Polya just give me the answer?
Not by default. Ask “solve this” and Polya starts with a hint, then a step, then a worked example — the full solution comes when that’s what actually helps you learn. You stay in control of how far up the ladder you go.
Is using Polya cheating?
Polya is built for learning, not shortcuts. It teaches through problems instead of finishing them, shows the source behind every claim so you can verify it, and follows the assistance policy your instructor sets for the course. What counts as permitted help is always your instructor’s call — check your syllabus.
Where do Polya’s answers come from?
From your course. Every claim carries a citation that opens the exact PDF page, slide, or lecture moment behind it — so you can check the source yourself in one click.
Can my instructor control how much help Polya gives?
Yes. Instructors choose a per-course assistance policy — Open, Guided, Practice, or Review — and Polya visibly follows it. Students see the active policy in every conversation.
Is Polya free?
Polya is free to start. Sign in with Google, connect your school’s Canvas, and study with your courses.
Who made Polya?
Polya is built by Canvascope Inc. and named for George Pólya, the mathematician whose book How to Solve It taught generations how to work through problems step by step.
